Raising Awareness: Successful Substance Abuse and Naloxone Campaigns for Ocean County
The Challenge
Purplegator was hired in 2021 by the Ocean County Department of Health in New Jersey to manage an advertising campaign to educate residents on substance abuse and the resources available, plus an advertising campaign to educate residents on Naloxone/Narcan availability in the County, and how it can save lives during an overdose.

The Approach
We conducted focus groups among the general population, those in substance abuse recovery, community leaders, and local treatment providers to get direct feedback on what media platforms to use, what ad creative to use, and more.
After analyzing the feedback from the groups, we created the ad campaigns, and managed the media across several platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Google Display, YouTube, Snapchat, as well as streaming television.
The Outcome
The ad campaigns earned 3,595,123 impressions in Ocean County and received great levels of engagement with thousands of clicks, positive reactions, video views, and comments. Ocean County was so pleased with the results that they awarded us additional projects to help them in their efforts!
